Jewels is a subsidiary of G.E.M.S - Girls Empowered By Morals and Standards a charitable organization for teenage girls between the age of 13 and 17. After the launch and success of G.E.M.S in Spring 2007, Adriane Simmons, the founder of G.E.M.S, and Kara Norman came together to create an empowerment group for pre-teen girls ages 9-12. Jewels was launched in September 2008!
Jewels was created to enrich and empower the lives of girls as they make the transition from pre-teens to teenagers. Kara and Adriane both had daughters who were pre-teens and began to see the major changes that take place physically and emotionally. Realizing that their daughters were growing up in a time and society much different than their own, they put their passion and creativity into action. They realized that by reaching young girls at an early age they could have a tremendous impact on them as teenagers and young women.
The mission of Jewels is to promote self-esteem, self-awareness, self worth and respect within the lives of young girls. Through enrichment workshops/activities, cultural awareness, community service projects, mentorship, leadership/educational programs and social activities Jewels will accomplish these goals and create confident young women who will make a difference in our world!
